Third-party and independent presidential candidates such as Ralph Nader rarely do well, but one could eventually win if political campaigns continue current trends, University of Oklahoma President David Boren predicted. The major parties are telling candidates to adopt a strategy of polarizing the electorate. "I'll be shocked, if this trend continues, that a third party or independent does not emerge and get elected president," Boren said.
