Description

New York Sen. Hillary Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, reported about $109 million in income between their departure from the White House in early 2001 through 2007, according to figures released Friday by the campaign. The total was more than the couple previously had reported in Senate and campaign disclosures. The Clinton taxes had become an issue in the closely fought Democratic contest, as Sen. Barack Obama and his advisers hammered Sen. Clinton for failing to make public her tax returns. He previously made public his own returns, and Friday's disclosure made clear the income disparity between the candidates. Sen. Obama and his wife reported adjusted gross income of $983,000 in 2006, compared with nearly $16 million for the Clintons that year.
