Since the president’s post-election remark that he would meet with Republicans for a “Slurpee Summit” the tasty, fruity, drink has skyrocketed in exposure. Obama’s meeting would not be the first time the Slurpee has helped to facilitate unity.
“We are not surprised by President Obama’s comments about Slurpee, which is nonpartisan and has been bringing people together for more than 40 years,” 7-Eleven Inc.’s president, Joe DePinto said in a statement.
The Slurpee has indeed been bridging the divide between people with divergent opinions and, amusingly, a fifth season episode of The Golden Girls can attest to that fact.
As Golden Girls fans — no, disciples — we at The Daily Caller, remembered a similar meeting of the minds in the early 1990s when Dorothy’s ex-husband Stan’s cousin, Magda comes to visit.
Magda is from Czechoslovakia and hates everything about America … except Slurpees.
