Description

Susan Ford finally staged a jailbreak. Like Mandy Moore's character in the recent movie "Chasing Liberty," Ford found that life as a teenager in the White House could be stifling. "I kept thinking 'I want to be normal. But I can't be normal,' " says Ford, now Susan Ford Bales and the mother of two daughters. "Everyone was watching. It was like living out loud." Ford was criticized for wearing blue jeans in the White House, had her high school dates critiqued and was shocked to hear her mother, Betty, tell Larry King and a national radio audience that she "wouldn't be surprised" if Susan had a premarital affair.
