Historic Overview

Several so-called "Citizens" movements existed in NYC from the 1930s to 1960s, beginning with the Citizens Non-Partisan Committee during the proportional representation era of the City Council and ending with the creation of an Independent line for John Lindsay's mayoral campaign in 1969. The logo is from Lawrence Gerosa's mayoral campaign of 1961.
