Historic Overview

Anarchist It is difficult to define what exactly an Anarchist believes on an individual level as there are various different strains of anarchism, such as primitivism and Anarcho-Syndacalism. Anarchism is best described by leading Anarchist thinker, Noam Chomsky, who defines it as libertarian-socialism. A marriage of limited community orientated government with the socialistic principle of common ownership of the means of production. Anarchists were active in the Russian Revolution, the Mexican Revolution, the Spanish Civil War (please see CNT and Friends of Durruti) and the Internationales, which later split largely along communist vs anarchist lines, in addition to several other countries. Leading Anarchist thinkers include Mikhail Bakunin, Emma Goldman, Peter Kropotkin and Noam Chomsky (still living).
