Description

A RECENT story that didn't get nearly the attention it deserved was the New York Daily News report that 46,000 registered New York City voters are also registered to vote in Florida. Nearly 1,700 of them have had absentee ballots mailed to their home in the other state, and as many as 1,000 have voted twice in the same election. As documented in here, it is ridiculously easy to fraudulently vote. Illegal aliens do it, 911 Hijacker did it, the dead do it, pets can do it, people can vote multiple times in multiple places. There is no check to confirm that college students who vote at their college town did not also vote by absentee back home. The US lags behind most third world countries on the integrity of our voting system. Instead of worrying about the possibility of electronic voter error, I'd rather see improved efforts to assure the public that the known types of voter fraud are eliminated. A few pretty simple steps that would reduce most of the fraud would require an ID when registering/first time voting, a photo ID when voting, and a computer check of registration lists from other states for every absentee ballot.
