Description

The biggest critique the public has of Republicans is that they’re too unwilling to compromise, while the public views Democrats negatively for spending too much, according to a Gallup survey released on Monday. According to the poll, a plurality of voters, 14 percent, said their biggest problem with Republicans is that they are too inflexible and unwilling to compromise. The next biggest critique, coming in at 9 percent, was that the GOP is the party for the rich and looking out for the wealthy over the middle class. On the Democratic side, a plurality of voters accused lawmakers of spending too much and increasing the deficit. Democratic voters agreed with this indictment, with 10 percent saying that was the party’s biggest problem. As far as strong suits, voters viewed Republicans positively as managers of the economy and the debt, while saying a Democrats care more about the issues important to middle class and working families.
