UNITED STATES HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL MUSEUM WELCOMES SIGNING OF THE NEVER AGAIN EDUCATION ACT INTO LAW

WASHINGTON, DC — The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum expresses its gratitude for the long-standing, bi-partisan commitment of the United States Congress to Holocaust education and the work of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. We share a common vision about the enduring importance of helping people, especially young people, understand how and why the Holocaust happened and its lessons for today. The Holocaust was not inevitable. Learning about this history encourages critical thinking about the dangers of unchecked antisemitism and hate, the consequences of indifference, and the fragility of societies.

“As the country’s national memorial to the Holocaust, the Museum works to advance quality Holocaust education in all 50 states, by providing training and resources, establishing best practices, and more,” said Museum director Sara J. Bloomfield. “This legislation will expand our ability to do that over the next five years. We look forward to supporting the learning of young people in schools and communities nationwide and to working with various partners including educators, educational administrators, and local Holocaust centers.”

The Museum expresses its deep gratitude to the legislation’s sponsor, Representative Carolyn Maloney and co-lead sponsors, Representatives Elise Stefanik, Don Bacon, and Salud Carbajal; and Senator Jacky Rosen and co-lead sponsors Senators Kevin Cramer, Marco Rubio, and Richard Blumenthal; and President Trump for supporting this legislation which calls for the development and disemination of accurate, relevant, and accessible resources about the Holocaust, supports professional development for educators, and the evaluation of such efforts to develop best practices for effective teaching of the history.

A living memorial to the Holocaust, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum inspires citizens and leaders worldwide to confront hatred, prevent genocide, and promote human dignity. Its far-reaching educational programs and global impact are made possible by generous donors nationwide. For more information, visit, ushmm.org
